I don’t have my own drum and pump, but I agree it makes sense to store the gas this way. For the sake of portability and for situations where one has to move things around or want to move their fuel supply by car, truck or trailer smaller gas cans would be easier.
It’s the same with water. It’s great to have large containers and a pump, spigots and such, but some choose smaller containers that they can carry and move based on their physical capabilities or available storage requires containers that can fit the space more efficiently.
